  1. Check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Use an OBD-II scanner to read any stored codes. A code pointing to a specific sensor or system is the best starting point for diagnosis.
  2. Listen for the Fuel Pump. When you turn the key to the "on" position (without starting), you should hear a brief humming sound from the fuel tank area for 2-3 seconds. Its absence suggests a fuel pump or relay issue.
  3. Inspect Basic Maintenance Items. Verify the condition of air filters, spark plugs, and ignition wires according to your vehicle's maintenance schedule. These are common wear items.
  4. Test the Charging System. A multimeter can check battery voltage (should be ~12.6V off, ~13.5-14.5V running). Low voltage while the engine runs indicates alternator problems.
  5. Consider Fuel System Health. If the vehicle stalls when hot or under acceleration, a weak fuel pump or clogged filter may be to blame. A fuel pressure test performed by a technician is often needed.

While checking fuses, connections, and basic maintenance items can be a DIY starting point, diagnosing intermittent electrical faults, sensor failures, or internal fuel pump issues often requires specialized tools and expertise. If the stalling is persistent, unpredictable, or you cannot find an obvious cause, it is time to consult a certified technician. They can perform live data streaming, component actuation tests, and precise fuel pressure measurements to pinpoint the fault efficiently and safely.
